In the presence of dozens of police
officers Monday, the Ministry of
Public Security presented 50 vehicles
and 102 motorcycles to officers in
order to reinforce the work carried
out by the police. The presentation
was made at the entry of the
Children's Museum.
Present were President Carlos
Alvarado, the Minister of Public
Security, Michael Soto, and other
representatives of the Ministry.
The 50 patrol vehicles are 4x4
pick-ups, at a cost of ₡828,712,500
colones ($1,374,709) and 102
motorcycles at a cost of ₡617,927,400
colones ($1,025,048). The total
investment amount was ₡1,446,639,900
($2,399,758).
President Carlos Alvarado said that
the new vehicles are part of his
government’s response to make
population feels safe. He added, "This
important investment responds to our
commitment to protect the people."
The vehicles were purchased with the
ministry’s own funds and are aimed at
strengthening the Operational Support
Groups (GAO). They will be distributed
throughout the country with an
emphasis on areas with a higher crime
level.

stations in each region.
