The Honduras-based Central American Bank for Economic Integration, CABEI, donated $7,000 to the Ladies Volunteers of the San Juan de Dios Hospital in San José Province, for the purchase of food for patients with covid-19, who are in treatment in the hospital.

Through the hospital's social service department, the volunteers' work began in April, with the fundraising campaign called "Be Solidarity in Times of Covid-19." They have delivered 150 food packages to patients, who in addition to having covid-19 are people living in poverty.

"This donation will support 120 families who are going through a very critical moment, many people are indirectly affected by the public health emergency, these are patients who are undergoing oncological processes, renal replacement therapies, and others that, in addition to their illness, they must face a difficult economic situation, because some member of their family lost their job in recent weeks and they do not even have enough to cover their basic needs and those of their family," said Ileana Balmaceda-Arias, Director of the hospital.

According to Dante Mossi, President of the bank, the donation is a response of solidarity with people in the most vulnerable situations.

The hospital volunteer donation campaign is still active. For more information on how to make donations, call 506-2547-8815, 506-2547-8816 and 506-2547-8794.
