This has been reflected in recent publications of renowned international media such as Good Morning America of the American broadcast radio and television network, ABC. ![]() The show shared the story of the Ashton’s, a British family who spent two weeks creating their tropical forest in the basement of their home after the unexpected cancellation of their planned trip to Costa Rica due to covid-19 measures, said the government. "What a beautiful video! It’s a shame you, your family, and thousands of people couldn’t visit our country due to COVID-19. ," the president Carlos Alvarado wrote on Twitter after watching the video. "Now is time to #StayAtHome and take care of our beloved ones. Better days will come and Costa Rica will receive you with lots of joy. Pura vida!" Family's Ashton video can be reached on Twitter. In the last three weeks, Costa Rica has been present in the media of the United States, Canada and Europe in its travel and family sections, due to publications paid by the Tourism Institute. "Costa Rica has earned with decades of work a highly respected site in the world as a tourist destination that we must take care of while we plan how to reactivate our tourism sector to get it out of this unprecedented crisis," said María Amalia Revelo, minister of Tourism and also president of the Tourism Institute. According to Revelo, the institute's PR and advertising staff have developed strategic actions to maintain a connection with the main tourist markets. The list is wide and varied, the institute said in its statement that they’ve even worked with the digital magazine Matador Network which published an extensive report on the majesty of the Osa Península. Even the Condé Nast Traveler mentioned Costa Rica as a global "green destination" for its sustainable tourism model. The Canadian World Traveler medium developed an extensive report "Listening to the sounds of the tropical forest" which mentions the Arenal and Rincón de la Vieja volcanoes, the biodiversity and the Costa Rican fauna. Also, as part of the “Take an Essential Moment” series of videos that are published on the Institute's social networks show meditation sessions, yoga, the tour of waterfalls and beaches that are currently empty. In Spain, the digital medium El Mundo published a series of fabric paintings for coloring inspired by animals of the Costa Rican fauna such as the hummingbird, the jaguar, the sloth and the owl. Also in Spain, the Blueroom advertising agency of the institute announced that the May issue of Condé Nast Traveler will publish a report from Playa Nosara, in Guanacaste. They have also nominated it in the category of International Destination for visiting in the future in the awards Gold List 2020. The U.K. is promoting "Tico Thursday"which is published by Joe Wicks, a recognized body coach and personal trainer in Grain Britain. He visited the country and shared his unforgettable memories with followers on social networks. In Germany, the institute promotes a Costa Rica coloring book and activity book for kids that teaches about flora, fauna and culture of Ticolandia. This book was also replicated in France and the United Kingdom.
